Spotlight On: Martina Hamilton

Bannon Jewellers are proud stockists of Martina Hamilton jewellery. A firm favourite with our customers and staff alike, these award-winning collections are designed and expertly crafted in Ireland and are a true celebration of the creative talent that our Irish jewellery designers have to offer.

Martina Hamilton lives and works in Sligo, a county of extraordinary beauty on the Irish West Coast. Inspired by the ever-changing Atlantic coast, and by her ancestral ties to Dernish Island, Martina Hamilton’s designs are as unique and stunningly beautiful as these surroundings.

Working with a small family team of master goldsmiths, Martina Hamilton has created an impressive variety of award-winning jewellery collections.

Each collection is distinct and showcases the natural beauty and rich and creative wealth of the rugged, coastal Irish landscape. Expertly designed and handcrafted in either sterling silver or 9ct gold, these designer pieces would make a beautiful and thoughtful gift that would be cherished for years to come. Here are just some of the collections we love from this enormously talented designer.

Bean Rí

Bean Rí translates to She King, is a collection that was commissioned by the National Museum of Ireland to mark 1000 years since the Battle of Clontarf. These designs give a voice to underwritten women in Irish history who have played a part in shaping Ireland through the ages and into the modern day. Winner of the Best Jewellery Design award in the Showcase Ireland and Design & Crafts Council of Ireland awards, this collection is a celebration of elegance and femininity. The hallmarked sterling silver and 9ct gold candle flame designs that define this collection embody passion and strength.

Croí Sliogan

The Croí Sliogan, or the shell’s heart-core, is a romantic collection that is inspired by the poet W B Yeats. As a young man in London, Yeats reminisced about the Sligo landscape being the “deep hearts core” in one of the most famous poems ever written, The Lake Isle of Innisfree. Sligo is Martina Hamilton’s beloved home, and this landscape and the hearts core are the inspiration for this collection of jewellery featuring gently textured shell motif in sterling silver.
